Mariners Cottage, Stoke Gabriel

Holiday Cottage in South Devon

News Flash.....Half Term week Oct 08 is still available!!!!

Mariners Cottage sits on the quay in Stoke Gabriel, a village in South Devon which is situated on a creek of the historic River Dart. The cottage offers superb views over the Mill Pond and river Dart. This ancient and unspoilt village still retains its ancient roots from the 800 year old yew tree in the churchyard to its gentle tangle of cottages leading down to the river where locals have fished for Dart Salmon for centuries. With its old Inns and the hubbub of daily life, it still retains that quintessential English village atmosphere.

From the quay by the River Dart, where children can go crabbing, there are gentle strolls to be taken along the riverbank or through the old apple orchard and winding streets of the village where unexpected glimpses abound. There is always something to see and do in this lively community where everyone is made welcome.

Further afield are the unspoilt areas of the South Hams with its winding lanes leading to secluded beaches and coves to discover, or to the wild bleakness of Dartmoor to roam. The historic towns of Totnes and Dartmouth are nearby and a boat trip on the River Dart is a "must".

Other nearby attractions are Paignton Zoo, steam railways and for those interested in our history there are National Trust castles and gardens to explore. The English Riveria towns of Torquay, Paignton and Brixham are but a few miles away. There are golf clubs in the area, the nearest being three miles distant. There are also riding stables within three miles, plus riding centres on Dartmoor just fourteen miles away. Whatever you choose, there is something for everyone in Stoke Gabriel. No wonder people say it is "the best kept secret in Devon !"

Mariners Cottage is pet friendly and is the perfect base for your holiday in South Devon and looks forward to welcoming you!
